Egyptian Vegan Restaurant Indianapolis– Treat Your Pallet With Meatless Delicacies

Whenever I hear someone say, I am vegan, it makes me cringe. I am not particularly a fan of vegan diet, mainly because it offers very limited choice of dishes. The fact is you can’t order anything besides a blend of different salads, fruit dishes and that’s it, the menu instantly runs out. But when I came across a fabulous vegan restaurant in Indianapolis that offered traditional vegan Egyptian dishes with a modern twist it almost changed my perception of vegan food. Although Parthenon also serves dishes made with meat and dairy products, it also offers a wide range of vegan delights.

I went to this cozy little place 86th St with a friend and I was immediately taken up by its vibrant vegan menu. Contrary to the popular belief not just Egyptian but entire Middle Eastern cuisine can be regarded as a paradise for vegans all over the world. The cuisine makes use of fresh green and leafy vegetables, choicest grains and lentils. It also bakes one of the most delicious and nutritious flatbreads in the world. This makes dining at any of the Middle Eastern restaurants in Indianapolis a unique experience.

Some of the most celebrated dishes are the numerous dips which you can finish of with toasted or dip fried slices of pita, Egyptian flatbread. I bet you are already familiar with dips like humus, tahini and baba ghanauj. In many vegan restaurant in Indianapolis you can begin your lunch with a welcome drink like lemon tea or freshly squeezed sugarcane juice with pinch of lemon and then move on to appetizers like falafel, dip fried pita bread served with humus, tahini and baba ghanauj. The main courses can include dishes like creamy lentil soup, vegan Dolmathes and a bunch of salads like cucumber salad. There is a bunch of desserts but none of them are free of dairy products. Rice pudding is something to look forward to, I tried it and I loved it.

As the craze for vegan food is on the rise in millennial generation (primarily due to its health benefits) many restaurants also have started offeringvegan catering Indianapolis for special occasions like wedding, engagement, corporate luncheons etc. I noticed one more thing that there are many people that ordered vegan food delivery Indianapolis using their phone or over internet. The takeaway counter also seemed pretty busy. The bottom-line is whether you are a die-hard vegan or a food enthusiast exploring vegan cuisine, you have got to try one of the Egyptian or Middle Eastern restaurants in Indianapolis.

Middle Eastern food in Indianapolis - what to eat& where to begin ?

There are many eateries and restaurants offering mouthwatering Middle Eastern food  Indianapolis. The shear variety of the dishes makes it even more difficult to pick few favorites. I have learned from my personal experience that almost all dishes are really good and mostly healthy; credit largely goes to the traditional cooking style in the region which involves stewing, steaming and slow cooking. Which are the top ten dishes that you must taste is really a matter of dispute since there are too many good dishes to choose from.

My best advice is to get out there and start exploring. For most of the people munching at a Greek restaurant in Indianapolis is a great way to start then as taste buds develop you can move on to more traditional middle eastern food. Remember Greek food is not considered as truly Middle Eastern, rather it is Mediterranean but there are many similarities. If you are a see food lover you can start with Egyptian, Lebanese and Israeli sea food and up lunch delivery Indianapolis from top restaurant.
to some extent Turkish cuisine. Most of the other countries have very limited or no sea food dishes although current trend is changing. Some of the noted dishes are Fish kebabs, Sengari fish, Fish Harrah and many more, take your pick and order a

Meat is with the exception of pork is consumed in all countries although there are many vegetarian dishes available. Some of the famous roasted chicken and lamb dishes like chicken Shawarma, lamb kebabs, doner kebabs are my personal favorites. Most of the meat dishes are curry based or cooked with broken wheat and rice. Pilaf is one such dish where different types of meat are cooked with elongated variety of rice. Many leading restaurants offer customized catering Indianapolis so chances are you can taste one of these dishes in a wedding or a at a corporate gala in the city. But the best way to enjoy this cuisine is dining in a truly authentic restaurant with typical Middle Eastern ambiance and hookah.

Moving on to vegan dishes, contrary to the popular belief middle east offers a wide variety of vegan dishes from dozens of dips like hummus, tahini to salads like tabouleh, cumber curd salad and vegan gyros. Ful Madames and Koushari are two Egyptian vegan dishes that you must try. Like any other cuisine middle east offers a wide variety of sweets and desserts prepared using thin phylo pastry, dry fruits and nuts with cheeses and honey as sweetener. However sugar syrup is replacing honey in many traditional dishes. Some of the notable deserts are Kunafeh, Qatayef, Baklava and Halva. Most of the Middle Eastern restaurants Indianapolis serve sweets round the year but you can find maximum variety and novel dishes only during the month of Ramadan.

So what are you waiting for? Get out there and hit the first Middle Eastern restaurant Indianapolis you come across. Try it, it’s different and healthier.
